Sugababes
In 1997 the 14-year-olds Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy decided to start their own girl-group called "Sugababes“. Their manager at the time, Cameron McVey helped them sign a record deal within no time with London Records.
They released their first single “Overload” from their debut album “One Touch”, which made it to the top 10 charts in Europe. In the end of 2001 London Records decided to go separate ways while Donaghy quit by herself and got replaced in 2002 by Heidi Range from Liverpool, founder member of Atomic-Kitten. As a result the new formed band signed another deal with Island Records and produced their second album “Angels With Dirty Faces” which sold over 700.000 copies in the UK. After they released their third album “Three”, which brought a number No. 1 hits, they went back on stage in July 2005.
Founder Member Mutya Buena left the band on the 21st of December 2005. She was replaced by Amelle Berrabah, who joined the Sugababes in spring 2006 when they toured with Take That. On the 8th of October 2007 they released their fifth album “Change”, where Amelle’s voice is heard for the first time.
Although the Sugababes wanted to take a creative break, they still continued to work on new songs. Then they signed a record deal with Jay Z’s record label Roc Nation. Towards the end of 2009 Keisha left too, being the last founder member. Due to disputes in the band she didn’t want to be part of it any longer. She was replaced by Jade Ewen. Their success story made them a much sought-after group for events.
