R.Kelly

Robert Sylvester Kelly was born in 1967 in Chicago (Illinois, USA) and is a famous American R&B singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. His gospel-tinged vocals and highly sexualized lyrics entice R&B fans worldwide and probably also seduce some of them. He has won three Grammy awards so far for his hit "I Believe I Can Fly" and has more Top 40 hits than any other male solo artist in the 1990s.

Kelly was raised in a strongly religious family in public housing projects in Chicago. His singing style has often been described as “church-trained,” and, even though faith has been a recurring theme in his music, early singles such as “Bump’n Grind” and “Your Body’s Callin” established sensuality at the center of his music.
Kelly's debut album, “Born Into the '90s”, delivered a smooth and melodic distinctive sound laced with profound hip-hop beats. His ballad “I Believe I Can Fly” was a massive hit and was awarded with three Grammy Awards, including best Rhythm & Blues song. The success saga continued with the debut album “12 Play”. When his fifth solo album “R.” got released in 1999, sales figures skyrocketed und the record was certified multi-platinum.

“Chocolate Factory” achieved double-platinum status in 2003, and the 2010 release “Love Letter” peaked at No. 2 in the Us R&B Charts. Kelly remains one of the world's foremost R&B music stars.
