Nicky Minaj

Nicki Minaj was born as Onika Tanya Miraj on December 8, 1982 in Trinidad & Tobago. She moved to Queens, NY at the age of five with her parents. The first commercial success came along with her third mix tape, which gained her the Underground Music Award “Female Artist of the Year” in 2008. Furthermore she was featured in the XXL-Magazine and future releases received airplay on the radio, BET and even MTV.

It didn’t take long for her to get signed by a major Hip Hop label. None other than Lil’ Wayne took notice of her and signed her to his label Young Money Entertainment.

Since then has definitely emerged to being one of the hottest Hip Hop Newcomers around. Her debut album “Pink Friday” peaked at no. 1 on the US Billboard Charts within no time and was even certified Platinum only a month after its release. Nicki is the first artist to ever have seven singles on the Billboard 200 Charts at the same time. When her song “Your Love” peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot Rap Songs, she became the second female MC to ever achieve this since Missy Elliot. Billboard even named her a “Rising Star” in 2011.

Nicky Minaj has collaborated with many leading musicians such as Rihanna, Kanye West, Trey Songz, David Guetta and many more. She will even be featured on an upcoming single with Madonna.

Her new album titled “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” is planned to be released on February 14, 2012.
