Kelis
Kelis Rogers was born 21st of August, 1979 and grew up in a Harlem neighborhood in Manhattan, New York. After she had received her High School diploma, she formed a band with Pharell Williams and Chad Hugo from the Neptunes. With their help she finally got signed short time later.
The Neptunes produced her first album "Kaleidoscope" which included the single „Caught Out There“. The single peaked at No. 9 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts. The album was also a success in Europe. „Caught Out There“ peaked at no. 4 on the UK Singles Charts. Kelis earned a BET Award for "International Breakthrough Act" for her album as well as a NME Award for „Best R&B/Soul Act“ in 2001.
Her next hit album titled "Tasty" came on the market in 2003. It contained the hits "Milkshake", "Trick Me" and "Millionaire" feat. Andre in 3000. Singles and album were also successful in Europe. They sold well and charted high. The next album „Kelis What Here“ was nominated for a Grammy and was produced by big-name producers like Scott Storch, Cee-Lo Green, Will.i.am, Sean Garrett and more.
Finally, in 2009 she published her fifth album „Flesh Tone“. On this album Kelis musically went new ways and admitted to more dance and pop influence. Therefore she worked together with Djs and producers like Benni Benassi and David Guetta. The first single extraction "Acapella" topped Dance Charts in the USA and England. As a result Kelis hit the road for the first time tour, together with the Swedish superstar Robyn.
