Young Jeezy
Nr. 2 on the Billboard Charts, mix tapes with Juelz Santana ("Best of Both Hoods") und T.I. ("Hustle and Snow") as well as Coverstories on every renown Hip Hop magazine - that is just a part of Jeezy's story.
Jeezy (Jay Jenkins), formerly known as Young Jeezy, was born in 1977 in Columbia, South Carolina. After establishing a reputation of a criminal bad boy in the mid-90s, he decided to turn to music and make legal money in that way. Soon he had founded his own label "Young Guns Entertainment“ and started making baby steps as a musician/entrepreneur. For Jeezy rap was so much more than just busting rhymes - he considered it rather a form of storytelling about his life on the streets of the ghetto. His eagerness and passion opened doors for him in the music industry. Because of the passion that he would put into his music, he gained high credibility which led to his first major success. The debut album "Come Shop Wit 'Me," sold more than 500,000 copies.
Soon the major labels were lining up and all hoping to sign Young Jeezy. Eventually he chose to go with Def Jam. The former Def Jam CEO Jay-Z was featured on the remix of "Go Crazy". A few months later Jeezy dropped his major debut: "Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101."
His albums have been certified several times Platinum and Gold. Jeezy even received a Grammy nomination in the category Best Duo for his song "Put On" feat. Kanye West. The corresponding major album "The Recession" claimed the No. 1 spot on the US Billboard 200, Top R&B Album Charts as well as Top Rap Charts simultaneously.
He also appeared on Usher's Billboard No. 1hit "Love in this Club".
