Fabolous

John David Jackson, better known as Fabulous was discovered at the age of 18 by DJ Clue. His lyrical, smooth rap flow gained him a record deal with DJ Clue’s label Desert Storm under which he released several mix tapes. The collaboration with Desert Storm brought Fabulous attention from big musicians such as Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige, just to name a few.

His debut album “Ghetto Fabulous” which had to be released on September 11, 2001, of all days, yet turned out to be a huge success. It instantly was certified Platinum and peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard Charts. His second album release “Street Dreams” managed to live up to the success of the first album and it too was certified Platinum in 2003.

Fabulous, however, wanted to reach higher goals. So he proved his versatility by producing and writing music as well as acting and starting an entrepreneurship. The followed a number of collaborations with singers like Ashanti, Neyo, The Dream and even late Rap mogul Nate Dogg. After numerous single releases that all charted in the Top 20, he switched his record label in early 2006 to Def Jam and released his most successful album to date “From Nothing to Somethin”. The record immediately peaked at No. 1 on the US Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Album Charts. One good reason for this success surely was features from none other than Swizz Beats, Jay Z, T-Pain, Rihanna, Akon and Jermaine Dupri.

The following release “Loso’s Way” in 2009, sold nearly 100.000 copies in the first week and was another Billboard No. 1 for Fabulous.
